Staroměstský Weir
(Old Town Dam)

For the reconstruction of the historic Old Town Dam in Prague, oak logs harvested in the Obora Kinský (the historical game reserve) were processed at the Kinský sawmill. These oaks were over 160 years old and up to 30 meters tall, providing an exceptionally high-quality material. Oak beams with a total length of more than 2 kilometers underwent special “water curing” – they were submerged for a month to stabilize and prevent warping. The reconstruction used a traditional lattice structure of oak wood which—just like in the 13th century—was filled with granite slabs instead of concrete. The quality of wood from the Kinský forests and expert processing at the sawmill confirm our competence even for historically and technically demanding projects.

Kost Castle

For the walkway along the battlements in the last courtyard of Kost Castle, approximately 40 m³ of oak wood from the Kinský forests was processed at the Kinský sawmill. The wooden structure, 45 meters long and 10 meters high, was completed in 2022 and naturally complements the architecture of the complex. The new walkway improves the flow of visitor routes and offers a stunning view of the surrounding valley through the castle battlements. The project was designed carefully respecting the historical context so that the wooden element would not disturb the gothic character of the building.

Coach House
Karlova Koruna Castle

The Coach House, located next to the riding hall at the Karlova Koruna castle complex, underwent extensive reconstruction that restored dignity and function to this Baroque building. The renovation also included the replacement of the roof structure, for which high-quality oak wood from the Obora Kinský (the historical game reserve) was used. At Kinský sawmill we ensured the processing of the material with an emphasis on craftsmanship, long lifespan, and historical authenticity. This project is part of the award-winning revitalization of the entire Karlova Koruna complex.

Riding Hall

Karlova Koruna Castle

The reconstruction of the historic riding hall in the Karlova Koruna baroque castle in Chlumec nad Cidlinou was one of the key steps in the extensive revitalization of the entire estate. Kinský sawmill supplied massive oak wood from its own forests in the Obora Kinský game reserve, which was used for the complete restoration of the roof structure. Thanks to the combination of traditional material and a sensitive approach to historical architecture, this project received the prestigious Hereditas obligat award.

Podhlavický Mill
– Luxury Boutique Hotel

In the restoration of the historic Podhlavický Mill, the goal was to preserve as many of the original elements as possible, honoring the building's rich tradition. The sandstone, granite, and wood were all meticulously restored and repurposed. Oak wood from the Kinský family's forests was used for both structural work, such as the flooring, and for interior details. This material, with its natural grain and long lifespan, helped maintain the character and authentic atmosphere of the building.
